Author: Jean-Christophe Grangé Type: "Whodunit" Detective Novel/ Initiatic journey to the dark side of Mankind... Synopsis:Louis Antioche, a French student, is hired by a Swiss ornithologist to follow the storks' migration to Africa to discover why many have disappeared the previous year. The ornithologist is found dead, from a heart attack, soon after... In a stork nest. Louis nevertheless decides to carry on with his mission. From the Tzigan villages of Bulgaria, to the occupied territories of Israël, and then in Africa, Louis gets deeper and deeper into mistery and horror: slaughtered bird watchers, mutilated children corpses in hidden laboratories... His own past -his hand are scarred from burns he got in a mysterious accident when a child- seems to be linked with the investigation. It is in India, in Calcutta, that the dreadful truth will be uncovered... Review:A really twisted plot, with would make a great introduction for players to the horrors of the mythos, starting with 'human' monsters. The character which is being the whole plot made me instantly think of Herbert West... Looking for a wicked way to introduce your players to the horrors that devour our world? Why not start by showing them Mankind's own horror? Definitely a great read, less than 400 pages: "fast-food" for keepers? Ratings: (1-5) - Plot: 4
- Fun: 3
- Style: 4
- Overall: 4
