Armor: Sgt. Sawyer wears a "bullet-proof" metal and ceramic vest - more accurately a torso shell patterned after the lorica cuirass body armor worn by ancient Roman soldiers. It will turn most handgun fire and is also highly resistant to shrapnel, blunt impacts, and close quarters weapons. It provides him with 12 armor points to the chest, abdomen, back, and shoulders. It also provides 15 armor points against blunt weaponry on those same locations.
Patron: The CIA. The unit which Sgt. Sawyer is assigned to is tasked and equipped by the Central Intelligence Agency, which should explain his highly unusual armaments and the immensely durable SOTA body armor he wears. FIFTY is Sgt. Sawyer's CIA cryptonym and, by making a Luck roll (75 or less on percentile dice), he can request equipment, information, and support from the CIA. He can't get things like brand new BMWs, $4 million in cash, or 100 force recon marines to help him out, but he can learn useful snippets of information, get himself "extracted" from hairy situations, and usually come up with ammunition when required.
Equipment:
"On the job": When preforming duties as a soldier, Sgt. Sawyer will have all his toys, or nearly 70 pounds of weaponry and ammunition: 1 X L.A.R. .50 Big Boar in .50 BMG, 1 X JD Jones/ SSK Handcannon SCI Commemorative single shot pistol in .475 JDJ, 1 X South African Amsel Striker shotgun, 1 X Beretta M93R in 9mm Parabellum, 1 X Colt Model 1911A1 .45 ACP, with 40 rounds .50 BMG, 40 rounds 12 gauge Magnum (shot), 70 rounds .45 ACP, 70 rounds 9mm Parabellum, and 20 rounds .475 JDJ. He will also have his Marine Corps KABAR fighting knife, as well as fatigues, body armor, and sundry other survival goodies not exciting enough to go into here.
"Off the job": When not actually acting as a soldier, Sgt. Sawyer will wear standard Marine Corps fatigues or dress blues as the situation requires. Standing orders with the CIA tasked unit he is assigned to require him to have his Colt 1911A1 .45 and Beretta M93R 9mm pistols on his person most of the time (obviously, when he's in the shower...), and he has been issued a Federal Weapons Permit to allow him to do so in civilian situations. He might also have his KABAR with him.
Relationship to Delta Green: Sgt. Sawyer is a friendly. He is not a member of F Cell, or of any other Delta Green Cell. Delta Green members or friendlies who are either employees of the CIA Directorate of Operations Psychological Warfare and Paramilitary Staff or part of the Department of Defense SOCOM can request assistance from Sgt. Sawyer. Sgt. Sawyer has received considerable intelligence training from the CIA, and he is able to act in more orthodox tradecraft roles. However, his skill at arms should be apparent, and the greatest service he can be to those confronting the preternatural menace is supplying the sniper's "hand of God" with a high powered rifle from a prepared position.
Physical Description: Sgt. Sawyer is 6'5" tall and weighs 265 lbs. He is described as a"big ol' farm boy". He has dirty blonde hair and amber eyes. As a member of the 2nd Reconnaissance B Company of the USMC, Sgt. Sawyer is a special operations soldier of no small ability. Even amongst such able peers, Sgt. Sawyer's capabilities and ability to produce results are considerably above average. He has earned the appellation of "elite" soldier, hence the detached duty for the CIA which he finds himself often on. The big Texan embodies the sniper's creed of one shot, one kill. He is also a capable close quarters fighter, in a bar room brawling sort of way.
Sgt. Sawyer's first covert operations duties involved being loaned out to blunt FARC aggression in Colombia, which he was able to do. In the jungles of the Orinoco River basin, he saw and learned of things suggestive of a menace to sane and ordered reality a trifle more preternatural than drug-financed leftist guerillas. However, he was unable to learn more or to follow up the leads which came his way. Prior to his duties in Colombia, Sgt. Sawyer's only exposure to a possible prehuman survival involved a peculiar sandstone formation near the family ranch on the outskirts of Denton, Texas. Oddly massive, tentacled shapes, suggestive of squids or worms and accompanied by chanting sounds were seen in its vicinity, but were usually attributed to a little too much time spent in Denton's less reputable roadhouses.
